Individual Therapy

Name the Question You’ve Never Said Out Loud

The question that brings someone to therapy is the one they’ve never said out loud.

Yours sounds something like this: “Why do I keep ending up here?”

You’ve asked it after an argument that ran exactly like the last one, and after a reaction you were sure you’d outgrown by now.

Asking it is the most useful thing you’ve done yet.

Your Question Is the Door

You’re looking for help, and everything you’ve tried so far has helped some without reaching the bottom of it.

That question, why do I keep ending up here, is the door.

We’ll open it together and look at what sits underneath the persona you show the world: your emotional landscape, the relationships that formed you, the beliefs about your worth you absorbed before you could question them.

Working psychodynamically means attending to the feelings and the old patterns moving underneath whatever gets said, and the attending itself is what you’ll feel first.

You’ll Feel the Difference in How I Sit With You

I have a warmth that’s genuine, and the work I’ve done on myself shows up with depth in this room.

The relationship is the work, and that changes how I sit with you.

I follow instead of leading, and the pace stays unhurried, spacious, grounding.

When I notice something moving in you, I’ll put words to it without force and leave you room to turn it over.

Look Underneath and See Yourself Whole

Curiosity changes what you’re able to see: a belief about your worth you inherited from someone else, a reaction that fires before you choose it, a part of yourself you set aside so early you forgot it was yours.

Piece by piece, a fuller picture of yourself comes together, and I stay close to you while it does.

Seeing it clearly is also what lets you grieve what happened to you.

Depth like that arrives slowly, and it asks two things of you.

Two Things Are All I’ll Ask of You

Come consistently, and bring an open curiosity about yourself.

Nothing about our hour will be hurried, and I’ll be steady in it with you.

Depth takes time, and I won’t move you toward the door before you’re ready.

Everything you need in order to heal is already in you, and we start looking for it the first time we meet.

Say It Out Loud in the First Twenty Minutes

A free 20-minute consultation is a small version of the work itself: you say the question out loud, I listen closely, and we both find out what it’s like between us.

We’ll talk about what’s bringing you toward therapy, where you want to get to, and anything you want to ask me, with no obligation after it.

Your wellbeing matters. Sessions take place online across Michigan, or in my office here in Traverse City.
